SOLID FURNITURE - BUILT TO LAST

Generously thick planks of hardwood are the center point for solid metal frames and welded iron plate foundations, all with strong industrial colour coating. Danish Loft Design is more than good looking design. It’s simply solid.

STEEL WORK

Building the structure

The tradition of Loft furniture includes recognisable metal features that can be found throughout the industrial scene, conjuring imagery from shipyards and harbors to high-rise construction and warehouses, elevator shafts etc.

Danish Loft Design Co. chooses simple yet distinct profiles of construction grade metal, carefully cutting the parts, whilst paying extreme attention to our clean, welded joints.
Finally we powder coat the steel in our signature colours.

SCREWS AND FITTINGS

Signature stainless steel screws

All metal components are carefully chosen to withstand wear and tear, made by the industries’ best in Europe and USA.

Our screws are of high quality stainless steel and for all decorative features, oxidized in black colour.

This is both a design signature and a quality stamp of Danish Loft Design Co.

METAL COLOURS

Durable and resistant finish

Danish Loft Design Co.’s industrial powder coating is equal to the coating used for bicycle frames, agricultural and industrial machinery.

For easy maintenance, any assist free oil applied to a cloth will give the coat a subtle shiny finish and hide small scratches.

The standard colours we work with is red, orange, black, white and aluminum. Customized colours available upon request.

LAMPSHADE COLOURS

Light and beautiful

All our lampshades are specially designed to match the lamp base to ensure the overall lamp balance.

We have chosen classic colours for the cotton fabric in two basic colours to match both metal and wood.

Alternative colours can be made to order upon request.

WOOD

All our wood suppliers follow international laws and rules. We are able to trace the wood all the way back to its origin and we keep an audited trail at all times.

TABAK

Tabak known in Latin as Lagerstroemia floribunda Jack, has a grayish brown hue with a beautiful texture.

The wood is hard and has excellent durability.

Harder than Teak and with similar qualities to Oak, it is frequently used in construction, for staircases, beams and pillars as well as outdoor furniture.

TABAK LIGHT

Tabak Light is the exact same wood as Tabak, though the finish is different. Tabak light is finished by a light vegetable oil, to give the surface a lighter look. It will still keep its grayish brown hue with a beautiful texture. Wood is alive and will also have a variation of colours, which will be displayed through the light oil. We will do our best to match the colours of the different planks of wood used for same furniture.

Tabak is harder than Teak and with similar qualities to Oak, it is frequently used in construction, for staircases, beams and pillars as well as outdoor furniture. The wood is hard and has excellent durability for urban loft styled furniture.

TABAK JOINT

Tabak joint is smaller pieces of Tabak wood jointed together. This design is in order to being able to make larger and wider wood planks for one-piece furniture. These pieces are usually used for our desks and some of our side tables. The jointed planks have a beautiful display of a variation of lighter colours than Tabak.

WALNUT

Walnut is one of the most versatile and popular cabinet making woods.

It grows in Europe, America and Asia.

We use Walnut from Laos with a distict dark chocolate colour.
Walnut is strong, hard and durable, without being excessively heavy.

The solid wood boards are joint with hidden fingerjoints and are structurally very stable.

LEATHER

Our leather is bought from one of the best suppliers in Thailand. They work with the most desirable types of cow and buffalo leather from Uruguay and Australia. All leathers are fully grained and vegetable tanned. Nothing compares to real leather.

ORANGE COLOURED LEATHER - HAZELNUT

Hazelnut is a beautiful orange coloured leather and a typical colour used for the classic Danish furniture designs of the 1970s. It is a trend that is now back in fashion. The colour is light brown with orange undertones as can be seen on the shell of a hazelnut.

Both our Round-iron and Round-iron bar chairs are available in this colour.

Our leather originates from the highest grades of cow or buffalo. The upper-most layer or top-grain is used as this is the most appealing part. The tanning process of the leather is developed and supervised by the TFL group of companies (explain here). The leather used is vegetable tanned, which means it is “chromium-free” and does not contain harmful chemicals.

The thickness of all leathers for our Round-iron chair back piece is between 1.4 mm and 1.6 mm. This ensures that the leather stays strong and you get the right support for your back. The seats of all Round-iron leather chairs have a layer of latex between the leather and the steel structure to make the seat more comfortable.

LIGHT BROWN LEATHER - TOBACCO

Tobacco is a light brown colour and the lightest brown leather colour we work with. This colour gives the furniture a lighter appearance. The colour has a tiny orange hue, similar to dried tobacco leaves where it takes its name from. Typically, this colour is seen on leather furniture in gentlemen’s clubs.

Both our Round-iron and Round-iron bar chairs are available in this colour.

BROWN LEATHER - CHOCOLATE

Chocolate is a deep brown colour with no orange or red undertone. It is neither very deep nor very light. As its name suggests, the colour resembles that of chocolate. It is a perfect match for our walnut furniture.

Both our Round-iron and Round-iron bar chairs are available in this colour.

BLACK LEATHER - BLACK

Black is a colour that suits the living room, dining room, bedroom or office. It gives a harder look compared to the three brown colours we use. Black Round-iron chairs complement all our wood colours giving a more minimalist look.

1.4 MM - 1.6 MM THICK

Leather is one of the most sought-after types of upholstery today. Nothing compares to the look and feel of genuine leather. Only the highest grades of cow and buffalo leather are used in our products. These hides are thick enough to be split into several layers of leather. The upper most layer or top-grain is the most aesthetically pleasing. Top-grain leathers exhibit natural markings and reflect the essence of leather in its natural, unaltered and unprocessed state. Shade and grain variations should be expected in all top-grain leathers.

Our tanning process is developed and supervised by the TFL group of companies (The Swiss CIBA GIGY and the German Stockhausen and Rohm & Haas company). Thus, the chemistry involved in our leather treatment benefits from the integrated network of research, development and production of this group.

WOOD CARE & CLEANING

For care and cleaning of wood it is recommended to use natural wood soap. There is many different brands and variations. For oil it is recommended to use linoil. Linoil is a natural plant oil and very useful for wood preservation.

Regularly care and maintenance is paramount if you have an interest in keeping the tree beautiful for a longer time. A well-groomed surface is easier and faster to clean. When cleaning the wood of the new bought product, it is recommended to use special natural wood soap for this matter. Follow the description of the mixing ration on the backside of the soap bottle. Apply the soap on the wood and scrub with a sponge along the wood grain until the wood appears clean. Repeat the cleaning if necessary. Carefully wash down the surface with water and remove any loose crisps with a stiff brush. Leave the wood to dry for approx. 24 hours. Remove rising fibers with sandpaper if necessary. The type of sandpaper recommended is 240-400 grit. . The wood must be completely dry before an oil treatment is applied. See section 2, application of oil.

1.1 Minor Scratches and Stains from Moisture

In case of scratches or stains from moisture, it is recommended to clean the stained area with warm water. Use the rough side of a sponge to clean the certain area and let it dry completely before any oil is applied. When the area is completely dry apply now linseed oil to the cleaned area with the rough side of a clean sponge. Scrub along the grains of the wood until the stain is no longer visible. If there is any redundant oil – dry it off with a clean dry cotton cloth no later than 5 minutes after the oil was applied. Let it dry for at least 24 hours and then polish the area with a fiber cloth. See section 3, final polishing.

2. Application of Oil

Stir the Oil thoroughly before use. Apply an even thin coat of oil with a sponge or a brush. Treat the end grain wood first. Make the application in dry weather only. Avoid direct sunlight and high temperatures.

3. Final polishing

If necessary, wipe off any excess oil with clean cotton cloths no later than 5 minutes after the oil was applied. It is important to remove excess oil from joints and grooves. Repeat the process in case the wood does not appear saturated. When the wood is dry, it may be polished with a polishing pad or polishing machine to ensure an extra hard-wearing surface. It takes 24 to 48 hours for the oil to harden completely, depending on weather conditions and outdoor temperature.
